Funginix

Funginix Review

This review of Funginix is based on things we have read.  This article does not state that Funginix will 100% get rid of your fungus, but may be worth trying if you have tried lots of other products because lots of people have had success with it.

About Funginix:

Funginix claims to have the best ingredients/chemicals within it to make it one of the best topical solutions available. They have taken tea tree oil, which is a very popular ingredient for fighting toenail fungus and mixed it with other herbal medicines and a type of acid to be effective in killing off the fungus.

The solution is FDA registered to be effective in treating toenail fungus.  Most treatments that are over the counter only provide a temporary solution to the fungus problem, then the fungus ends up coming back.  This is probably the biggest thing that Funginix takes pride in is that they say once their solution gets rid of the fungus, then it will not come back like other remedies have been proven to do.  This treatment is put directly onto the nail and soaks into the nail bed over time.  Once it reaches the nail bed it is said to kill the fungus from the inside to the outside of the nail.  It then is said to help your bodies infection and inflammatory capabilities naturally so that your body is actually fighting the fungus with natural remedies instead of a bunch of crazy chemicals.

If your nails are discolored it is stated to get rid of the yellowish color and to make your nails clear again.  97% of the people who tested it supposedly reported having healthy nails within 12 to 15 weeks.  Also they said to report that after the fungus was removed that there were not any traces of it anymore after months of being off the treatment.  Severe cases were reported to take around 4 to 5 months for the solution to work.

Funginix bases a lot of its fame on the fungus never returning after the ointment rids the fungus.  This is a lot different than other treatments that you read about.

The Difference in Oral and Topical Solutions

Oral medications generally have possible side effects that can disturb your stomach or liver, but they are also very effective in fighting off the fungus.  Yet, usually these oral medications are pricey and the ones that really work normally have to be prescribed by a foot doctor.  They also normally have to be taken for many months to start showing the effect.  If you have had any medical conditions involving the liver or stomach then you definitely need to talk with a doctor before trying some of the oral medications.

Using topical ointments are definitely the safest measure for your body and probably why they are also the most popular.  But, you have to be very careful about what you read and believe.  Make sure you read and find real testimonials from people because a lot of the topical ointments you find are pure trash period.  Also be sure to check out the ingredients and get familiar with what ingredients have been proven effective.  Also, when using topical ointments be sure to do exactly what the directions say.  Don’t just get the bottle and start putting it on the nail.  Read EXACTLY what it says and do what it says to give yourself the best chances possible of eliminating the fungus.

Fingernail Fungus Treatment

Fingernail Fungus Treatment

Toenail fungus has been recognized by the medical community as one of the ailments that plague the human body that are difficult to treat. This is most likely true simply because there are many types of fungi that can invade your nail bed and cause some degree of discomfort, whether it’s self-consciousness or a more serious physical condition, depending on your overall health. If you have diabetes, seeking treatment from a doctor is essential, because if complications set into your feet, a life-saving foot or leg amputation may be the only course of action.

Whether you are diabetic or not, you should get to a doctor to seek treatment for toenail fungus–any kind of fungus that it might be. If you notice a yellowish or otherwise discolored nail bed when you look down at your toenails, have a doctor examine it as it could even be nail cancer.

Risk Factors

According to Susan Miller, RN, you are most at risk for this condition if you are older, diabetic, have suffered previous nail trauma, have HIV, or practice poor overall hygiene when it comes to your feet. Fungi enjoy parts of the body that are not well-cleaned. In addition, if you’re a person who likes to swim, you expose yourself to a variety of fungi that can invade your toenails.

Diagnosis

A doctor will ask you to cut your toenails. Then he will collect the resulting scrappings and send them to the lab for further analysis. Only after the lab has returned your culture can the doctor determine that a fungal infection has taken place. Then you and he can decide on the best course of treatment for toenail fungus, since there are many.

Treatments

There are a number of oral treatments on the market. Two of these are griscofulvin and fluconazole, which doctors have used for ages. These treatments are proven by years of safe administration, and are known to be effective. Nevertheless, toenail fungus patients are reluctant to take them because of the lengthy treatment intervals. For example, the treatment for fluconazole is up to nine months. Should you and your doctor decide on this treatment, it’s important to stay faithful about taking it, even after improvements in your toenail bed are apparent.

Two newer oral medications, terbinafine and itaconazole, are also available. According to Miller, these are much more effective than the two more traditional medications mentioned earlier. If you decide to try these, know that you take them daily in weekly cycles, with three weeks off. These cycles continue over a period of roughly three to five months. They are known to be safe. However, one caveat is worth mentioning: If you are already on protease inhibitors, avoid itaconizole. Also a new over-the-counter drug called Zetaclear has said to be giving great results and there is more info on that product on the Treatment For Toenail Fungus homepage.

If you wish to shun the oral medicines altogether, and wish to try a topical treatment for toenail fungus, try a nail polish that you paint onto your toenails for a full year. It is not as effective as the by-mouth drugs, and the dosing period tends to be longer.

If all of the above treatment types fail, surgery is also an option. However, many physicians use this as a last resort, after all other medication options have failed, and surgical removal of the nail is the remaining option. It is not very popular with patients as it is too invasive, and the resulting pain is intense.

The nail is the protective plate of the tip of the fingers and the toes. They provide protection to the fingers and serves as sensation enhancer to the fingers. The tip of the fingers contains many nerve endings. This, when counter pressured by the nails, provide more sensory input when an object is touched. Toenails may acquire certain diseases which could be painful and debilitating to an individual.

One of the common illnesses it can have is the toenail fungal infection. A person may acquire toenail fungus through constant exposure to warm and moist environments like shower rooms and sweaty shoes.

Symptoms of Toenail Fungal Infection

Toe nails with fungal infections usually exhibit no pain in the beginning. The nails will appear thickened and discoloration will be noticed. The discoloration usually appears yellow green in color. As the infection becomes worse, there will be appearance of white and yellow patches. The nail bed will eventually separate from the skin. This could be very painful not to mention the ugly sight it can create. Another unsightly appearance of toenail fungal infection is that the skin next to the nail becomes inflamed and scaly.

When to seek treatment for toenail fungus?

As soon as there is evidence of toenail fungal infection, it must be immediately consulted to a health professional. This infection takes longer to treat and may recur if not properly treated. Some people might take this infection for granted but it is essential that it be arrested early to come up with a successful treatment.

Medical Treatment for Toenail Fungus

Doctors would initially analyze what kind of fungus is causing the problem. The type of antifungal meds will depend on it. There are different antifungal drugs that a doctor might prescribe. Oral antifungal tablets like Terbinafine, with results visible within three to six months, and ltraconazole tablets will usually resolve a toenail infection.

Another treatment for toenail fungus is the antifungal nail paint. This is a nail lacquer with amorolfine as the active ingredient. It is recommended if the infection is situated at the end of the toenail. Treatment with this may last from six months to 1 year. And there is a new product out called Zetaclear that is over-the-counter that has been proven to work on about 80-85% who try it.  It also works through the blood stream.  More info can be found on it on the Treatment For Toenail Fungus homepage.

If all medications have failed, the last option would be the surgical removal of the nail. Surgery is indicated only if a great portion of the toenail is damaged and it is causing too much pain. Some case would require removal of the entire portion of the toenail, some instances it would require the removal of the involved portion of the nail only. The procedure is a minor operation done under local anesthetic. Following the removal of the affected nail, the doctor may advise the patient to continue with the antifungal drugs or apply antifungal creams to cure the remaining infection. Toenails are expected to grow back within twelve to eighteen months.

Toenail fungus can be avoided by practicing good hygiene like wearing clean and dry socks, using antifungal spray in the shoes and avoiding exposing the feet to surfaces that may be susceptible to fungal growth. The best treatment for toenail fungus is to avoid it ever happening.
